Movie convention Research: Scream 4

 The conventions of scream 4 is the supposedly stupid girl gets chased and killed to start off the opening sequence. Also, there is a theme of having the killer being masked giving the audience a mystery to solve. There is a lot of non-diegetic sounds when there is action commencing in the scenes this creates an ominous effect. Also, there is your typical tracking shot of the character

running away from the killer which gives the audience one thought. Will they or will they not get away and in this horror film they definitely did not get away.

Our favorite conventions of the movie was definitely the killer being masked with a personality. This was shown through close up shots of the killer jump scaring the characters this creates a jittery effect on the audience. This creates the perfect rush and thrill you get when watching a horror film this is the art of horror films. Also, the acting of the killer made the film more exciting to watch the killer's movement didn't make them seem like a 100% monster with superpowers. They were human and could be taken down just like any other person in the world this gives the audience a feeling of hope for the main characters and the characters trying to escape.

The most unlikable convention of this movie was definitely the killer attacking at parties. It was full of obnoxious teenagers watching a typical slasher. This was an aerial shot and we got to see the look on their faces as they watched a movie while our main character was being attacked by a real killer. They didn't understand the potential danger of staying there it just feels too unreal a real town would focus on safety. The mask of scream 4 is so iconic it was the perfect thing to see on the big screen but it was shown too much like you see it in the movie over and over again.
